Ivanov, three pages printed in gold, 32 silver prints and 4 reproductions (c.155 x c.225mm) all window-mounted on card. Original blue morocco by Altensen of St. Petersburg, gilt metal crowned cipher of Nicholas II and with the cross from the emblem of the Semenovskii regiment on the upper cover, edges gilt, white moiré silk doublures, presentation to Nicholas II printed in gilt on the front endpaper (front cover detached, lower portion Semenovskii emblem missing, edges rubbed, spine ends worn, small areas of wear coloured-in). Provenance : Nicholas II (binding, printed presentation) -- Paul M. Fekula. UNIQUE ALBUM PRESENTED TO NICHOLAS II documenting a revival of the Poteshnyi Regiment -- a style of military education for children initiated by Peter the Great. The Sergievskaia School of Temperance, sited near St. Petersburg, was staffed with instructors from the Semenovskii regiment, and opened in 1905 to provide physical and military instruction to State-school children from impoverished areas.
