Rare emblematical engraving representing a nude woman on a galopping horse, bald with only a tuft of hair on the forehead. An illustration of a Latin distich attributed to Cato (Hairy in front, Chance is bald behind or Take the opportunity by the forelock). By the Augsburg engraver J.E. Nilson (1721-1788) after J.E. Ridinger (1698-1767), German painter and engraver, considered as one of the most famous engravers of animals. Ref. Thienemann, Nachträge, 1309. We join : Jungwirth, Franz Xaver - [ Assumption of Mary ], 18th c. Engraving after Johann Nepomuk Schöpf, 46 x 23,5 cm (trimmed to the platemark); engr. name, dedic. of Schöpf to an abbot and arms of the dedicatee. Mounted by left side. Some tears in lower part, professionaly repaired but one. By Fr.X. Jungwirth (1720-1790) after the High Altar of the church in Fürstenfeld-Bruck (Bavaria) by the German Baroque painter J.N. Schöpf (1733-1798). - Galle, Cornelis II - The flagellated Christ kneeling , s.d. Engraving after Abraham van Diepenbeek, publ.
