Nine pictorialist prints of varying methods. All matted, approx: 50.8x41 cm (20x16"). Presented with the book Pictorial Photography in America 1921 published by Pictorial Photographers of America. Henry A. Hussey was a Berkeley, CA photographer in the Pictorialist mode. Some of his work was exhibited in London as well as California. Photograph "Sun Drying" is represented in Pictorial Photography in America 1921, page 42 (included in lot). Most photographs are inscribed, some with exhibition labels on reverse. The OAC - Online Archive of California at the Bancroft Library collection in Berkeley lists nearly 300 items by Henry Hussey in their collection. Includes: [California Coastline] (Carmel?) 7½" x 10½" signed verso. "Adobe Stairway" 9.5" x 7.5" Pencil signed by the photographer at lower right. Pictorial Photographic Society San Francisco label on verso. "Over the Harbor" 10" x 8" Pictorial Society of San Francisco pencilled notes on reverse with exhibition label from Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain 1921 Cat. #165. "Pictorial view Monterey/Carmel Coastline w/ trees and figures" 8" x 10". "Stone Lantern" Image area: 8½x7½.
