Tenuta dell'Ornellaia and the Vendemmia d'Artista Vendemmia d'Artista Art and wine have shared a particular bond throughout history. In 2009, the release of Ornellaia 2006 also saw the launch of a special artistic project entitled Vendemmia d'Artista, (the Artist's Harvest), to celebrate the unique character of each vintage of Ornellaia. Every year a world-renowned artist will be selected to produce an artwork that captures the essence of the wine, the character of the vintage, and its personality. The project also includes the creation of an extreme limited edition of large format bottles with a label designed by the artist. Ornellaia's Vendemmia d'Artista project aims to recapture the value of Renaissance patronage in a modern-day key, tying it to the birth place of Ornellaia and the specific character of the individual harvest. In 2006, the Italian artist Luigi Ontani interpreted 'L'Esuberanza' of the Ornellaia 06 vintage in his sculpture of the same name. Ghada Amer's work for Ornellaia 2007 was an installation called 'Happily Ever After', while Rebecca Horn created the sculpture 'L'Energia' for Ornellaia 2008. Christie's is proud to revisit these wonderful vintages of Ornellaia by a presentation of these extremely limited large format bottles, paired in each case with a bottle of equal size of the regular bottling. This enables the happy purchaser not only to cherish the limited edition bottles in their pristine form, but to enjoy the wine as well!
