Engraved title, 3pp. dedication, title vignettes, 30 headpieces, one full-page cul-de-lampe and 139 plates after Choffard, Boucher, Eisen, Gravelot and others by Choffard, Lemire, Basan and others (clean tear to N2 vol.II, inner blank margins of b1 to A1 in vol.I holed, some light browning). Contemporary mottled calf gilt, spine in six compartments, two with green morocco lettering pieces, g.e. (spine and extremities rubbed, head of spines of vols.I, III-IV chipped). Cohen/de Ricci 769: 'Superbe ouvrage... C'est un des plus galamment illustrés de tout le siècle.' - PLINIUS Secundus, Gaius Caecilius (62-113). Epistolarum libri decem. Leipsig: E.B.Shwickert, 1800-1802. 8° (216 x 122mm.). Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt, light blue watered silk endpapers, vol.I with additional vellum blanks, g.e. Provenance : Julius Didot (inscription dated 1810 on front vellum blank). - APULEIUS, Lucius and others. L.Apuleii de Asino aureo libelli.XI. Floridorum libri quatuor [and other works]. Edited by M.Tuccius. Florence: P.de Giunta, February 1512. 8° (160 x 100mm.). Woodcut printer's device on recto of final leaf (title somewhat browned). Contemporary sheep, tooled and blocked in blind, gilt and gauffered edges (neatly rebacked and cornered).
