.45 caliber, 10" octagonal barrels, bright finish, walnut stocks, approximately 15" in overall length. Flat, stepped locks are unmarked, with faceted and bridled iron pans and flat, swan necked cocks. Tops of barrels engraved G. Stanford. Fixed rear sights and silver blade front sights. Stocks with simple incised line carving along the forends and with small silver highllights including engraved feathers and escutcheons. Silver thimbles and entry pipes and hickory rammers with silver bands. A wonderfully executed pair of contemporary Kentucky pistols with fine decorative details including engraved feather shaped silver plates inlaid on either side of the barrel tangs, and flowing leaf shaped side plates. Other silver highlights include engraved, monogramed wrist escutcheons, spiral cut nose caps and engraved butt caps and triggerguards with Grecian urn finials. Provenance: From the Estate of Clem Caldwell Condition: Fine. Both pistols have a medium pewter patina on the metal with some speckles of oxidized discoloration and an old, thin coat of dried oil that has a brownish color. Mechanically functional with crisp locks, both bores fine, but need to be lightly cleaned. Stocks solid with some light handling marks and couple of minor dings. Really a wonderful pair of modern made Kentucky pistols that will be a joy to own, display and potentially shoot.
