Estate / Collection: The Dalva Brothers Collection Depicted as a maiden seated beside a basket of flowers, her companion kneeling and offering a lamb in his extended arms, his hat at his feet, the models by Jean Baptiste Defernex after François Boucher height of taller 8 ½ inches. First modeled by Fernex in 1754 for Madame de Pompadour’s dairy at the château de Crécy. The figures depict Madame Favart and her companion, the actor Rochard de Bouillac, in a scene from ‘Les Amours de Bastien et Bastienne’ by Charles-Simon-Favart. The play was inspired by The Village Soothsayer (Le devin du village) by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1752 and was performed at the Italian theater from 1753.
