Estate / Collection: The Dalva Brothers Collection Depicted as a maiden seated beside a basket of flowers, her companion kneeling and offering a lamb in his extended arms, his hat at his feet, the models by Jean Baptiste Defernex after François Boucher height of taller 8 ½ inches. First modeled by Fernex in 1754 for Madame de Pompadour’s dairy at the château de Crécy. The figures depict Madame Favart and her companion, the actor Rochard de Bouillac, in a scene from ‘Les Amours de Bastien et Bastienne’ by Charles-Simon-Favart. The play was inspired by The Village Soothsayer (Le devin du village) by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1752 and was performed at the Italian theater from 1753. In 1768, it was also performed as an opera created by Mozart. Reference Svend Eriksen and Geoffrey de Bellaigue, Porcelaine de Sèvres, 1987, no. 105, pp. 293-294.
