First French edition, translated from the German original, which was published in St. Petersburg (1771-1776). Pallas' expedition which took him six years to complete, proved to be one of the richest of the whole century regarding the scientific results, being of considerable importance for the ethnology, geography, linguistics, botany, zoology, and geology of Asia, especially of Siberia.
