PANORAMA -- LEECH, John (1817-1864). Coming Home. A comic Panorama. Delineating, with irresistible humour, the fun, mishaps, and queer occurrences, to which the votaries of Sport are subjected . London: Renshaw and Kirkman, [c.1850s]. Folding panorama (140 x 110mm unfolding to c.2300 x 110mm). Coloured engraving in four sections pasted together. (A few creases, occasional spotting, occasional browning at edges.) Publisher's blue-grey cloth, coloured engraved vignette tipped on upper board within gilt frame (light soiling and spotting). RARE. GAME -- SPOONER, William. The Funnyshire Fox-Chase . London: William Spooner [c.1850]. Folding engraved game, hand-coloured, dissected and mounted on linen (525 x 400mm). (Soiled, a few creases, without any loose tokens etc. with which it may have been issued.) Contemporary green cloth, engraving pasted on the upper board (lacking ties, engraving spotted, hinge worn). A game for an unspecified number of players in which a fox is chased along various roads. The Cockney Sportsmen; or the adventures of Mr. Jonquil and his friend Jay . London: E. Marshall [c.1822]. 8° (185 x 115mm). Printed rectos only, 16 hand-coloured vignettes. (Soiled, a few small repairs at inner hinge.) Mottled wrappers, coloured title vignette pasted on front wrapper (creased, extremities worn). Provenance : John Gibson Metcalfe (ownership inscription, and gift inscription to:) -- Frederick Reynolds. RARE; two Cockneys set off from Barbican on a cat hunt, with lap dogs for hounds. The British Library holds a copy with the imprint of J. Marshall, dated 1822. Not in Schwerdt or Tooley. HOWITT, Samuel (c.1765-1822) et al. (illustrators) -- Tableaux des Chasses les plus intéressantes . Paris: A. Nepveu, 1819. Oblong 8° (140 x 220mm). 12 colour plates (of 13, bound without frontispiece) after Howitt, Atkinson, Clark and Manskirk. (Occasional light scattered spotting.) Publisher's green printed boards (extremities rubbed), later green cloth slipcase. Provenance : Charles Henry Chambers (ornate gift inscription on front free endpaper, discreet inscription on front board). FIRST EDITION. The Catalogue collectif de France locates only one copy at the Bibliothèque nationale. Scenes include a zebra hunt with hounds, a giraffe hunt, a hunt for flying squirrel, a polar bear hunt, and 8 others.
