(Auteur de l'Antiquité) - - PLUTARCHUS.- Parallhla en biois ellh nonte kai romaion. Plutarchi quae vocantur parallela : hoc est, vitae illustrium virorum graeci nominis ac latinis [...]. BASILEAE, ([ IN GREEK] ANDREAS CRATANDER ET JOHANN BEBEL), In-f° : [4]-369-[1] ff. (very few spotting, larger but light spots on some lvs, some lvs +/- browned, marginal restaurated tear, one tear with small loss of text in lf. 118, rare contemporary handwritten notes in Greek). Modern binding : vellum, ribbed spine, brown sprinkled edges (flyleaves renewed).


Most famous work of Plutarch (46-125) presenting biographies of Greek and Romans arranged by pairs edited by Simon Grynaeus (1493-1541), German scholar and theologian of the Protestant reformation. Text entirely in Greek (except the dedication) decorated with ornemental initials; marks of Cratander on the title-page and on the back of last leaf.
