Beschreibung:

Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom Avraham Teixeira de Andrade "son of the lofty notable David Teixeira de Andrade who was one the elders of our holy community" with the bride Rachel Benedetti "daughter of the notable Avraham Benedetti (in the Holy Tongue called Baruch)". Amsterdam, Adar 1849. Dutch-Sephardi parchment ketubah, bordered by an ornate printed frame (name of the printer - "te bekomen by de Wed. Raphel de Maza" appears on the bottom), similar to engravings adorning Dutch ketubot from the 17th and 18th centuries (see previous item). However, this ketubah was printed in a smaller, lower-quality format (apparently, the original copper plates could not be found and the printing technique used for producing the border could not reproduce the delicate lines of the engraving). The signatures of the groom (in Italian) and the witnesses, Ya'akov son of R. Eliezer Ferraris and David son of R. Ya'akov Lopes Cardozo (in Hebrew) appear at the bottom of the ketubah. 30X37 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains and creases. Stains affecting text of the word "BaRevi'i", the text of the ketubah and the text of the tena'im.
