A wonderful collection of costume plates for ballets and opera-ballets, and including trades (Painter, Goldsmith, Cobbler, Gardener and Musician) as well as fanciful views of foreigners (African, Arab, etc.) All in FIRST STATE and in one case (W.201) earlier than the state described in Weigert. The costumes are imaginative extrapolations of the subject, with each figure wearing an elaborate headdress, usuallY with feathers or some attribute relating to the profession, and an appropriate landscape in the background. The subjects (and Weigert numbers) are: Habit d'Africain (W.200); Habit d'Arabe (W.201); Habit de Jardinier (W.156); Habit de Musicien (W.207); Habit de Savetier (W.210); Habit d'Orfeure (W.208); Habit de Pientre (W.209); Habit de Sculpteur (W.211); Habit d'Indiens du balet du triomphe de l'amour (W.194); Habit representant le mistere au balet du triomphe de l'amour (W.195); Habit d'Hermione qui à servi dans l'Opera de Cadmus (W.193). Laid-in is Habit d'Andimion du balet du triomphe l'amour. Colas 297 (mentioning the Beurdeley copy that was sold in 1918).
