Fußnoten Developed for Patek Philippe in the late 1950's by the renowned Louis Cottier, the uncommon dual time Ref. 2597 was aimed at the sophisticated international air traveler encountering rapidly changing time zones. Previous dual time watches requiring two separate movements were difficult to synchronize. By making the hour hand adjustable while the minute hand remains fixed, the problem was avoided. In addition, with buttons on the side of the case to adjust the hour, it was no longer necessary to remove the watch from the wrist to set the hour. Patented in 1959, the present example, from 1960, is one of the first series produced. An additional fixed hour hand was added to later versions. From the collection of the original owner, this watch has never before been offered for sale. The Gübelin signature on the dial adds to its rarity.
