Folding engraved map, 19 hand-coloured engraved plates. (Brown toning throughout, map with old dampstaining and small tears to folds.) Original boards, uncut (rebacked to style, scuffed). SECOND EDITION (revised and with two more plates than the first edition), UNCUT IN THE RARE ORIGINAL BOARDS. William PATERSON. Contemporary tree calf, gilt (rebacked, old spine laid down). Provenance : Sir George Francis Seymour (1787-1870, armorial bookplate, by descent); Francis George Hugh Seymour, 4th Marquis of Hertford (1812-1884, Armorial Ragley Hall library bookplate). FIRST EDITION. This is Paterson's description of the four plant hunting trips he made for his patron, the Countess of Strathmore.
