The treatment of the windswept trees recalls some of Henry's work of the 1920's. The remains of a label on the reverse reads : Farm in County Down' The setting is probably the Mourne Mountains. Paul and Mabel made a painting trip to the North of Ireland in the summer of 1936, and several of Paul's new pictures- In the Mourne Mountains, Rough Sea, Antrim Coast, and Ulster Farm, amongst them- he exhibited later that year in Toronto. The Toronto show opened at the Eaton Galleries on 19th September and ran until 2nd October. It was an outcome of negotiations begun the previous year. Paul thought of traveling to Canada for it, but was put off by the expense. In all thirty pictures were included of scenes in counties Antrim, Donegal and Kerry.
