Beschreibung:

Title: Pentateuch, Prophets and Hagiographa - Codex Leningradensis B 19 A Author: Place: Jerusalem Publisher: Makor Publishing Date: 1971 Description: 3 volumes. Introduction by Prof. D.S. Loewinger. Photographic facsimile pages throughout. 28.5x22 cm. (11¼x8¾"), half leather & cloth, spines lettered in gilt. Limited to 135 copies. The Leningrad Codex (or Codex Leningradensis), of which this is a photographic reproduction, is the oldest complete manuscript of the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew, using the masoretic text and Tiberian vocalization. It is dated AD 1008 (or possibly AD 1009) according to its colophon. The Aleppo Codex, against which the Leningrad Codex was corrected, is several decades older, but parts of it have been missing since 1947, making the Leningrad Codex the oldest complete codex of the Tiberian mesorah that has survived intact to this day. Published by special permission of the Leningrad Library. De-accessioned from the Pacific School of Religion, with bookplates, a few rubberstamps, trace of removed spine labels. Lot Amendments Condition: Near fine save for the mute evidence of library markings. Item number: 243388
