PEROTTUS, Nicolaus (1430-1480). In hoc volumine habentur haec. Cornucopiae, siue linguae Latinae commentarii , [Venice: Aldus Manutius and Andreas Torresanus, November 1513]. 2° (303 x 198mm). Woodcut Aldine device on title, K8v and the last page. (Slight worming at fore-margin of title with no loss of letters, worming in lower blank margins from f.64-b2 and a single wormhole in the blank fore-margins from O8 to the end, scattered browning and staining). 18th-century vellum, flat spine gilt with lettering-pieces, blue edges. Provenance : The Brigittine Convent at Rome (ownership inscription, dated 1756, on title). Second Aldine edition of the Cornucopia, essentially a commentary on Martial, by the great Renaissance grammarian and philologist Niccolo Perotti, Archbishop of Siponto. It here accompanies short works by Varro, Festus and Nonius Marcellus. Adams P720; Renouard 63/6.
