(Persian scholar and early astronomer, 1547-1621).- [Kitaab Al-Zubda fi'ilm usul Al-Fiqh], 125ff. Arabic manuscript in large black naskhi script, 4 lines, catch-words and highlights in red, contemporary marginal and interlinear annotations, several ownership stamps and inscriptions (a few later), some early marginal repairs, light finger-soiling, modern rexine-covered boards with new endpapers inserted, small sticker to upper cover, lightly rubbed, 4to (c.270 x 205mm), n.p., 1042 AH (1633 AD). *** A rare and early Arabic manuscript on jurisprudence copied just 12 years after the author's death. Syrian-born Al-Amili (953-1030 AH / 1547-1621 AD) migrated to Persia where he obtained an honoured place at the court of Shah-Abbas. In his lifetime he compiled a variety of Persian and Arabic works on subjects including astronomy and mathematics. The colphon on f.125, which appears to be in the same hand as the scribe's, belongs to scholar Muhammad b. Mu'min b. Shams al-Din Muhammad al-Isfahani.
