Peter Mountain Tank Painted wood and mixed media 244cm high, 977cm wide, 366cm deep On view at: The Sculpture Park The present lot is the result of a project entitled The Deconstruction and Reconstruction of an Army Tank, in which UK artist Peter Mountain built a virtual model of an army tank, which he then built by hand with individual strips of plywood. He subsequently set this colossal puzzle on fire, before painting it with the colours of the flags of countries involved in conflict. The eerie children's faces adorning the tank were inspired by a photograph of children using an empty tank as their playground in Syria. The tank was featured in an article by Beckett Mufson on Vice Creators, published 17 August 2016. It was on display at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, as well as the sculpture gardens of Burghley House, Linconshire, in 2017.
