Petition submitted to Henry Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall (“To the Prince his highnes”), signed by “we the deputie lieutenanntes and Justices of the peace in the County of Cornewall”, on behalf of Walter Kendall, who has been unjustly accused “for favoringe popish recusantes”, one page, folio, integral blank, contemporary docket, guard, “ffoy the xxvth of September 1610” Signed by ten members of leading families of Cornwall (Vivian, Rous, Carew, Arundell, Buller, Prideaux, Trefusis, etc.), including Richard Carew of Antony, poet and author of The Survey of Cornwall, described as “one of the most entertaining works in the English language” (Dictionary of National Biography), and his brother-in-law John Arundell of Terice, royalist general. Prince Henry became Duke of Cornwall on his father´s accession in 1603, and was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester in June 1610, dying two years later.
