Chancery 2° (305x214mm). Collation: a-r s t 6 (a1r title, a1v blank, a2r prologue, a2v tabula of book I, a4v text); A-Q 8 . 6 (A1r tabula of book III, A2r text, Q6v device (Weil 40), colophon); R 6 S 8 (articles pronounced in error by English and Parisian faculties); 2 R 6 2 S 8 ( 2 R1r tabula, 2 S8 blank). 265 (of 266, without blank 2 S8) leaves. 54-55 lines and headline; double column. Type: 1:180G (title and section incipits), 2:82 a G (text), 4:93G (headings), 6:64G (commentary and marginalia), printed guide-letters. 8- to 9-line initials in red and blue intertwined opening each book and on a2r, other initials (3-5-line), capital strokes and underlining in red. (Some light dampstaining, small wormholes in first and final quires affecting a few letters only, small tears not affecting text in title, extreme margins slightly frayed in first and final quires.) Contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, blindstamped, evidence of 2 fore-edge clasps, (rubbed, darkened, repaired in calf, light stain on rear cover); stamps not in Kyriss/ Schwenke-Sammlung . Provenance : early inscriptions on title including J. Raph. Heugele, and Andreas Episcopus G . The Klotz copy has the variants as noted in BMC, which agree with Hain (and Basel UB Inc.683), including the different title and the additions of two quires signed R and S containing the articles pronounced in error by English and Parisian university faculties.
