After a map by Frederick Rose "Comic War Map" (1877) of the countries of Europe, known as the Octopus Map, with the Russian Empire depicted as a giant octopus, whose tentacles stretch out towards Europe. According to Rod Barron (Barron Maps), this is a copy "clearly copied and transcribed from the --- Grossi publications, for the domestic Persian market", The Italian edition was published by Augusto Grossi amongst others in his political magazine Il Papagallo, titled "La piovra Russa".
