POUND, EZRA A Draft of XVI Cantos . Paris: Three Mountains Press, 1925. Copy 63 (press numbered) of 70 on Roma, inscribed in pencil by Ezra Pound on the front free endpaper of the binding to his son "O.P./certified/1948/Ezra P". 15 x 10 inches (38 x 25 cm); 68 pp., with decorations in red; Bound with A Draft of the Cantos 17-27. London: John Rodker, 1928. Copy 63 (press numbered) of 70 on Roma. 15 x 10 inches (38 x 24.5 cm); 58 pp., with decorations in red. Bound together in three-quarters vellum, circa 1950, decorated paper sides, inscribed by Pound in pencil on endpaper, housed in a clamshell case. Some soft creasing to the upper fore-corner in the second work affecting about ten leaves at the rear, apparently occurring before binding, otherwise a fine copy, with fore and bottom edges uncut. The two works are rarely found bound together, and given the sporadic nature of their publication, it is uncommon to find a numerically matched set. Beyond that, this is a cogent family association, a gift from Ezra Pound and Dorothy Shakespear to his son Omar on his 21st birthday, bound at the behest of Dorothy Shakespear (copy of letter laid-in). Gallup A26; Gallup A29. Provenance: Ezra Pound and Dorothy Shakespear to Omar Shakespear Pound C Estate of Omar Shakespear Pound
