(Some light browing and staining, small repairs to blank margins of title and last leaf). Modern boards. THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF PRAGUE CELEBRATES THE BIRTH OF LEOPOLD (13 April 1716-4. November 1716) son of Emperor Karl VI and Elisabeth Christina von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, and older brother of Maria Theresa. The celebration, starting on May 18, 1716, was held on the main street in the Prague ghetto which was paved and cleared of vendors, booths for the occasion. The lengthy procession passed through an arch of honor after which there was feasting and three days of fireworks. The arch provided a practical as well as ceremonial function as it apparently contained fountains that dispensed wine. The plates by J.G. Hartmann by J. Hiler show a triumphal arch, and a procession of 38 dignities and local representatives all described in great detail in the text. The work is a valuable source for the history and the customs in the Jewish community of Prague at that time. EXTREMELY RARE.
