Encased in acrylic and framed with a newspaper portrait, 13.5 x 16 in. overall. Mary Becker Greene (1867-1949) was the first woman to earn a pilot and master's license on the Ohio River, in 1896, and one of the most famous personalities on the Ohio and Mississippi during the first half of the 20th century. In her later years she became the hostess of the Delta Queen, the flagship of the Greene Line riverboat company she ran with her sons following her husband's death. She died aboard her at the age of 81 though visitors have reported her spirit still resides in Room 109 to this today.
