"Let this man / take the oath / of Dec. 8 1863 & / be discharged / A. Lincoln / January 14 1865." In a hardwood frame, mounted on a larger hard wood frame, which itself encompasses, sunken into the frame, an engraved portrait of Lincoln and a lettered brass plaque, providing commentary on the above petition and endorsement.
