Sacrae Historiae Acta a Raphaele Urbin. in Vaticanis Xystis ad picturae miraculum expressa, published Pierre Mariette 1649, 52 (of 53) uncoloured copper engraved plates, including frontispiece, title, and 50 plates, numbered 1-51, lacking plate 10, several plates with margins slightly trimmed, disbound, sheets partly loose, frontispiece soiled and with some splash marks, fraying to edges, final leaf slightly soiled and frayed to margins, oblong folio (30.5 x 44 cm, 12 x 17.25 ins) According to Brunet, four states of these engravings are known. This copy has the words `Petrus Mariette excudit' at the foot of the title scroll on the dedication leaf. Most plates have the imprint `Typis Petri Mariette Via Jacobea Sub insigne Spei' to lower margin. These famous engravings of the frescoes of the Vatican Loggia painted by Raphael were realised by Nicolas Chapron (1602-1656) in Rome under the supervision of Nicolas Poussin Brunet IV, 1108. (1)
