Beschreibung:

Ps. Hugo de Prato Florido's Sermones de sanctis Printer of Lindelbach (Heinrich Knoblochtzer), 1485 HUGO DE PRATO FLORIDO (but Evrardus de Valle Scholarum, d. 1272). Sermones de sanctis. Heidelberg: [Printer of Lindelbach (Heinrich Knoblochtzer)], 21 January 1485. First edition of sermons on the saints, in a contemporary binding. Commonly attributed in the 15th century to the Dominican Hugo de Prato Florido, these sermons have been identified from the manuscript tradition as the work of the French Augustinian Evrardus de Valle Scholarum. The printer of this edition, now known to be Heinrich Knoblochtzer, got his start in Strasbourg but left in 1484 for Heidelberg. If Voulliéme and Geldner are right that the Lindelbach printer's output forms a single group and should not be divided, then Knoblochtzer would be the first Heidelberg printer; according to BMC, which splits up the attributions, he is the third printer in that city. HC 9009*; GW 0948920; BMC III 666; BSB-Ink E-134; Bod-inc H-232; Goff H-513; ISTC ih00513000. Chancery folio (288 x 196mm). 286 leaves. Red initials and paragraph marks (first 16 leaves repaired at bottom margin, marginal dampstaining throughout, some wormtracks, final blank backed with newer paper, with some large areas of repair). Contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, brass clasps, bosses, and cornerpieces (one boss lacking, restored). Provenance: “Phillipus de Woring” (early inscription) – Joachim Wermann (inscription dated 1591) – Georg Schell (inscription on final leaf) – acquired from Lathrop C. Harper, Inc, New York, 14 May 1957.
