Traditionally the text is included in works of Bonaventura, but it is actually by the Minorite Conradus Holzinger de Saxonia, as argued in Quaracchi's 1904 edition of this text. The Bollanus first appeared about 1474/75 at Venice appended to the Sermones de Adventu of Robertus Caracciolus, and it is in this combination that it is most commonly found in 15th-century editions. The present edition is thus unusual as well as rare (only two copies are recorded in America), since it is the first separate edition of this work; an original purchaser could actually have combined it with the Caracciolus, which the same printer produced at about the same date and with a matching lay-out. The third work in this volume is the popular collection on St. Jerome. It is one of only a few books PRINTED BY THE FIRST AND ONLY PRINTER AT BLAUBEUREN IN THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY; Mancz was active for only three years, from 1475 through 1477.
