Queen Anne Red Japanned and Parcel Gilt Dressing Mirror Early 18th century The upper section with a beveled mirror plate within a conforming frame surmounted by a shell carved cresting and swiveling between finial topped supports, the lower section with slant front opening to a writing surface, pigeonholes and small drawers above a serpentine drawer, on bracket feet. Height 40 inches (1.01 m), width 18 inches, (45.7 cm), depth 14 inches (35.6 cm). C
Dressed condition and with previous restorations throughout especially to red japanning and parcel gilt decoration, mirror plate appears to be original, age cracks and bowing backwards to cresting of frame, much of the gilt decoration restored, losses to the door of the interior of the slant front, it is possible that the turret forms to the drawer and the finials below are later or have been replaced , the whole formerly fitted with ball feet, sides appear to be veneered and with age cracks throughout
