QUR'AN SIGNED SAYYID MUHAMMAD GHALIB A STUDENT OF MUHAMMAD AL-HILMI, OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED AH 1277/1860-1 AD Arabic manuscript on paper, 295ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of black naskh script, with gold and polychrome roundel verse markers, sura headings in grey thuluth script on gold ground within illuminated cartouches, text within polychrome ruled gold frame, with gold and polychrome floral illuminated marginal medallions, section markers in red thuluth script, catchwords, opening bifolio heavily illuminated in gold and polychrome, Qur'anic text followed by prayers, colophon signed and dated, with gilt orange doublures, in original gilt and stamped brown morocco binding with flap, fair condition Text panel 3 1/8 x 1 5/8in. (8 x 4.2cm.); folio 5 3/8 x 3½in. (13.7 x 9cm.)
