Beschreibung:

R Payne of 163 New Bond Street, London, walnut cased twin fusee bracket clock engraved silver dial set within a stepped bombe case, striking on a gong, 37 cm high, pendulum The case nibbles are indeed unusual, these are veneered in maple but there is no reason why this damage has occurred, the casework is good except two small lengths of moulding on the top, one edge and a small area of veneer missing to back door. Dial is slightly worn back at the 5-7 position on the lower edge. The movement seems to sit well with the dial and the strike/silent option at the top and its dial connects well with the movement. The bolt for the gong is clearly set in the base of the clock with no further holes, marks signs of earlier movement within the case. Complete with pendulum and key, from a local private deceased estate, sitting on a much later bracket (not removed from the house) high up on the hall wall - too high to be regularly wound and maintained - movement looks complete, will just need recommissioning. Sold without reserve.
