Regency Mahogany Terrestrial Globe on Stand W. & T.M. Bardin, London, circa 1807 The terrestrial globe within a brass meridian, the horizon band with paper calendar and zodiac, the cartouche inscribed To the Rt. Honorable/SIR JOSEPH BANKS BAR. K.B./President of the Royal Society/This New British Terrestrial Globe/Containing all the latest Discoveries and Communications, from the most/correct and authentic Observations and Surveys, to the year 1799/by Captn. Cook and more recent Navigators. Engraved from/an accurate Drawing by Mr. Arrowsmith, Geographer/Additions to 1807/Respectfully Dedicated/by his most obedient hble. Servants/W/ & T.M. Bardin, raised reeded legs joined by a compass stretcher. Height 47 inches (1.19 m), diameter of globe 18 inches (45.7 cm), diameter overall 24 inches (61 cm).
Overall good restored condition. Surface of globe cleaned with some patches and inpainting. Some areas of layed down lifting and cracks. Ring with lifting, cracks and some inpainting. Minor chips to edges. Stand appears to be in overall good restored condition with minor age cracks and some splitting at joins. Paper compass with lifting and age cracks. Old minor scratches, scuffs and wear.
