Includes many notable figures: Charles Comiskey, sports writer / golfer "Chick" Evans, Jr., August Herrman (former Reds owner), Kid Gleason (former White Sox manager), Ban Johnson, plus other professionals, businessmen, a few actors, Chicago politicians, etc. 10¾x7¾, original full soft suede leather over paper covers, front cover lettered in gilt, bound with silk rope ties (as issued), yapp edges, green silk flyleaves. First Edition. [One of only a small number of copies printed]. Extremely scarce Ring Lardner book, done in a small print run, likely intended for those close to Lardner himself. Seldom seen offered for sale; only one copy found at auction in the original binding which sold over twenty years ago. More recent offerings seen for retail at over $8000.
