Piece of bark approx. 3.5 x 12.5 in. max. and accompanying note, 22.75 x 4.75 in. The bark has a red ribbon around it and holes drilled for mounting. The note has a half-inch x 1.5 in. section missing, but reads [with guesses of the missing part]: "Twigs & bark from the 'Washington Elm Tree' in Cambridge, Mass. Under this [tree? Geo]rge Washington first [possibly 'took comm')]and of the American Army on the 13th of July 1776." Relic and note were found in an 18th century house in Felton, DE scheduled to be razed. Both currently in glass-front case. Condition: Poor condition.
