.69 rifled caliber, 42" barrel. Lockplate stamped Ilion, New York and dated 1857 with a U.S. Barrel tang dated 1857 and stamped G. Barrel stamped LS and then an encircled P. Left flat of barrel stamped NJ. Three-barrel band configuration, walnut stock, iron hardware. Condition: Barrel and locks are a smooth gunmetal grey with very light salt and pepper pitting covering the entire metal surfaces. The barrel bands are a brown-to-red color. The bore could be cleaned to excellent, however there is a ring in the barrel 6" from muzzle. The stock has a great cartouche with deep open grain wood with a nice dark red color turning to black. The stock has a split in the wrist region, and the front of the stock behind the front band is broken through. However, all the pieces are intact. With replacement ramrod.
