Villard was a major figure in the transportation industry in the West. He was president of Northern Pacific from 1880-1884 and served on the Board of Directors 1887-93. Text includes Newton's and Jenney's reports on the geology and mineral resources of the Black Hills as well as reports on the Paleontology, Petrography and Botany of the region.
