Moon, 1842-1849. 7 volumes in the original 41 parts ( Holy Land 20 parts in 10 wrappers; Egypt & Nubia 21 parts in 10 wrappers), 2° (625 x 450mm.) lithographed portrait of Roberts after C. Bagniet on india paper, 6 tinted lithographed titles, map of Egypt, and 241 tinted lithographed plates by Louis Haghe after Roberts, the half-page plates with text beneath (without list of subscribers and map of the Holy Land; plate 30 ( Egypt ) with small hole; plate 111 ( Egypt ) torn, occasional minor spotting). Original cloth-backed printed wrappers (slightly worn and frayed, broken, leaves detached, one cover torn). Rare in the original parts. The wrappers to the Holy Land have the armorial ensigns of Jerusalem printed on upper covers and those for Egypt & Nubia an Egyptian design and inside the upper wrapper to the final part is a notice that Messrs. Day & Son have made arrangements for Binding, either for Private Purchasers or the Trade , dated 1853. Abbey Travel 385 & 272; Tooley 401. (20)
