Rookwood Pottery Carved and Glazed Vase Albert R. Valentien, circa 1900 In the Art Nouveau style, of elongated baluster form, decorated with brown iris blossoms in bas relief against a deep olive green ground. Height 14 1/2 inches. Exhibited: The Universal Exposition, Paris, 1900 Pan-American Exposition, Buffalo, 1901 C
appears to be in generally good condition; there are some minor nicks, superficial scratch marks and scuffing to the exterior glaze; there is a small cluster of five small pinhead size burst air bubbles on the surface, located on the shoulder of the vase, however, they are not of great consequence; there is a small area near the shoulder that appears to be a white paint scuff mark, over the glaze, however, it appears to be permanent; there is a small area of glaze omission near the bottom rim edge of the vase, apparently in the making; the vase has a glossy finish (not matte); there are four paper labels affixed to the underside, including two from the Rookwood Pottery factory (one for the Pan-American Exposition 1901 and the other for the Universal Exposition Paris 1900); a third label shows a retail price of $60; there appears to be a red museum accession number painted on the underside: 652.06; the vase is also inscribed "A.R. Valentien" and bears the "R.P." company logo with flames and the model number 816 B; not blacklighted
