SCOTT, Robert Falcon (1868-1912). Two autograph letters signed to Lord Knowles, Admiralty, London, 13 and 28 March 1906, after he had requested the King's permission to accept an award of the légion d'honneur , providing information as to the class of the decoration, 'I am not very certain on the point, the official letter says cross but a private note informs me that the grade is "officier" which entitles the wearing of the rosette', in the second letter sending an acknowledgement of the King's 'private permission' to wear the insignia, together 3 pages, 8vo .
