Sebastian Mayrle Three Bowls, 2020 Gouache on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) My main subject of my artistic work is in the area of "free painting". In the representational and abstract painting, in the most diverse possibilities in colour harmony and colour variations. The compositional aspect of each individual work in all the differences that my pictures can show is absolutely important to me. When working through my works in the picture structure, the small details, which is embedded in the big picture, is a very important element for me and I need intensive phases of concentration in between so that the composition is successful in the end. The immediacy between the picture I am currently painting and what I want, my painting habits, the deliberate detours or coincidences from which I am inspired and the flows that can arise is very important for my work and always appealing and exciting until a work is finally created. As a result, it remains mostly open to the creative process, which is also related to many phases of concentration. Every single picture can have a very different effect due to these factors and this means that my works are on the same topic, but can also be viewed independently.' Sebastian Mayrle was born in Düsseldorf in 1977, where he still lives and works today. He studied Visual Art at the Free Academy of Painting Dusseldorf and graduated with a diploma in Free Painting. Sebastian has regular solo exhibitions at HWL Gallery Dusseldorf where he had been a resident since 2018.
