Siddur Sha'arei Shamaim - part two of the Ya'avetz Siddur - prayers for Rosh Chodesh and Festivals. Altona, [1747]. First edition, printed in the printing house of the author, R. Yaakov Emden. "The palace of the city of G-d is open to 14 gates… the gates of heaven… for the days and months of the year…" (from the title page). On page 159b: "Approbation from my esteemed brother-in-law, the famous and brilliant Rabbi Aryeh Leibush, Rabbi of Amsterdam". After the approbation Rabbi Emden apologizes for placing the approbation on the last page instead of the first, as is customary, since the letter of approbation arrived only after the printing had begun - "It is also well known that the Torah does not follow chronological order, and the last is often the most favored…". 159 leaves. 16 cm. Good-fair condition. Mostly dark paper. Stains and wear. Detached leaves. Worn binding.
