Single page typed letter from Eliot to "Miss Ruth George" of Claremont, California, in regard to Miss George's poem "By the Way of Dispossession" subtitled "T.S. Eliot: East Coker ." In the letter, Eliot thanks her for a copy of her Christmas poem containing a quotation from his work, "East Coker." He writes, in part: "I liked the poem very much, and want to let you know that I like it. I hope you write more as charming at this!" The original stamped envelope is present as well, with the typed address of the recipient. There are marginal pencil notes on the letter in another's hand, and on the envelope in pen. Included as well is a copy of Ruth George's book, Is the Seed Yet in the Barn, in which the poem appears.
