It's no small measure of singer k.d. lang's versatility that each of her four Grammy awards is in a different category – Best Country Vocal Collaboration, Best Female Country Vocal, Best Female Pop Vocal and Best Traditional Pop Album. Her personal 1966 Triumph TR6 scrambler custom, rebuilt as a road-going homage to the old California desert sleds, is equally adept at multiple disciplines. A rider since childhood in Canada, lang was asked in an interview recently what her idea of a perfect Sunday is. She responded that after a morning spent at the Los Angeles Farmers Market, she prefers, "walking the dogs, riding my motorcycle and watching NFL football." The TR6 would be a perfect partner for anybody's weekend jaunts. It was restored for lang six years ago by Triumph expert Dean Collins of TT Cycles, done in the style of the C-model 650s favored by off-road riders back in the day. Work included a complete engine overhaul starting with a rebalanced crankshaft, ported and polished cylinder heads, Megacycle camshafts and a 750cc big-bore kit. A single Mikuni carb was fitted for ease of starting and a reliable idle. A custom set of flat-black high pipes adds to the off-road look, as do a set of trials universal tires. The bike has seen little use in recent years and is now ready for its next owner and new memories.
