By virtue of an order of the Probate Court of Hinds County, made at the December Term, 1853, the undersigned will sell to the higest bidder, on a credit of six months, the following property of the estate of Joseph Spengler, deceased: Negro man Henry; negro lad George; negro boy William … Said sale to take place at the Steam Saw Mill, in Jackson, On the 16th day of January, 1854.
Raymond, MS: Hinds County Gazette Print, 10 December 1853. Broadside (410 x 330 mm). Signed in print by Hubert Spengler. Condition: folds, minor foxing and offsetting, a few holes, tears and separations. large broadside advertising a slave sale in mississippi. Besides the above named slaves, the broadside also lists other material being offered in the auction: “a large lot of lumber; about two tons of old iron, wrought and cast; two carry-logs; two waggons and one cart; a sett [sic] of Blacksmith Tools; a smal Fire Engine … [etc.].” This broadside unlisted in OCLC or Hummel.
