Horne, Charles F., Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief; Austin, Walter F., LL.M. Directing Editor. Source Records of the Great War. A Comprehensive and Readable Source Record of the World's Great War, Emphasizing the More Important Events, and Presenting These as Complete Narratives in the Actual Words of the Chief Officials and Most Eminent Leaders. National Alumni, 1923. Seven Volumes, Belleau Wood Edition. Limitation page records this as No. 660, registered in the name of S.M. Goodman. Double page insert certifies that S.M. Goodman "rendered patriotic services to the National Cause during The Great War." All bound in Morocco with gilt highlights, top edges gilt. We suspect all of the cover designs reflect the national symbols of the major parties involved, but only two of the volumes specifically state such (see following). Vol. I, Causes, maroon with foliate borders on front with other devices (possibly the national symbol of France), 418pp.; vol II, A.D. 1914, green with double borders on front, 449pp.; vol. III, A.D. 1915, maroon binding with facsimile of the art binding on the British Copy of the Versailles Peace Treaty, 440pp.; vol. IV, A.D. 1916, navy blue with elaborate devices and geometric and foliate patterns covering the front, 432pp.; vol. V, A.D. 1917, brown with facsimile of binding on the Polish copy of the Versailles Peace Treaty, 440pp.; vol. VI, A.D. 1918, green with simple device and border on front, 432pp; and vol. VII, A.D.1919, navy blue with simple double-line border on front, 356pp, appendices with America's Part in the War, with its own tp, 152pp, 14pp of graphs and charts of international comparisons, 9 full-color maps, 2 single page, the other 7 double-page. Condition: All excellent, barely opened. Just a bit musty from storage.
