View of two steamers, City of Keithsburg and New Boston. Ink title on verso No. 12 - Panoramic View of Muscatine from Richies Elevator (perhaps this was No. 12 in a panoramic series). City of Keithsburg was built in Port Byron, Illinois in 1864 for the Fort Madison-Rock Island trade for the Northern Line, and was snagged and lost above St. Louis on November 25, 1872. New Boston was the sister ship of City of Keithsburg, built at the same time for the same route, and disappears from records in 1873. The bridge was also called the Chicago and North Western Railroad Bridge, and was declared a postal route in 1870. Condition: Light soiling and edge wear.
