Stephen Bliss: Gardian with infant
bronze, unique signed SL Bliss, dated 1988, weathered green patination, 140cm.; 55ins high by 120cm.; 47ins long Stephen Bliss is a UK based artist who specialises in bronze sculpture. Born in Southampton 1949, he studied sculpture at Shoreditch College and gained a Merit Award in sculpture 1978. Stephen now resides in Newent, Gloucestershire. In recent years Stephen has exhibited at the following galleries. The Mall Galleries - London, Walker Arts Gallery - Liverpool, Goldsmith Hall - London, I.C.A. Gallery - London, Harrods - London, Ogle Gallery - Cheltenham, Portsmouth Festival 1990 - Portsmouth He has also undertaken many commissions for private collections in England, America, Belgium and New Zealand. This and the following lot are currently on long term loan at the Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, near Southampton, England. They are incorporated into the sensory trail as part of the Sculpture Trusts~ policy of |works for public places|. They may be viewed in situ by prior appointment with Summers Place Auctions. Following the auction the sculptor has agreed to remove the sculptures from Netley and deliver them to Summers Place for collection by the purchaser(s).
