Provenance : Poissoniez, Mons (bookseller's ticket). FIRST EDITION. This is a rare emblem book with a marked alchemical component. Some plates had previously been used in Jennis's publications for Valentinus, Lambspring and Maier among others. However, Landwehr questions Praz's opinion that the illustrations are connected with those in J. D. Mylius's Opus medico chymicum , published by Jennis in 1618.
