A Collection for Improvement of Husbandry and Trade [edited by John Houghton], 3 issues, 13-27 April, 1694, three 4 page issues (vol. 4, numbers 89-91), caption title to each issue, dust-soiled and toned, folio (Qty: 3) The issues in this lot include information relating to types of flour, the making and baking of different types of bread, including leavened bread as made in Shropshire, also London bread, Miscellain and barley bread much eaten about Wickham, Turnep bread and household bread etc. Reference is also made to the making of seed-cake and plum cake. The publication was the first trade and agriculture periodical in England, being published from 1692-1703 and ceasing with volume 20, number 583 (24 Sept. 1703). The issues were originally published on Wednesdays and later as here on Fridays and included detailed commodity prices. ESTC P1696.
